I am a HUGE fan of Goodreads, I keep track of everything I read on there, and very often find my next great read by seeing what my friends are reading. This is how I found The Backups: a summer of Stardom by Alex de Campi, a graphic novel, and I LOVE a good graphic novel. This one was super fun.
Three very different students from a performing arts high school get a summer gig as backup singers to the extremely popular, Nika Nitro. Jenny loves pop music, Lauren is only into classical, and Maggie is into death metal, but they are able to find common ground and support each other. Being Nika’s backups isn’t easy, but it’s a summer they’ll never forget.
This book is for anyone in 7th grade and up that’s into graphic novels, especially light, fun ones.
